Enjoy Vegetarian Dishes at the 2016 Green Food Fair

The 2012 Green Food Fair, themed “For Health and the Environment,” was held for the first time on a large scale at the Vietnam Cultural and Arts Exhibition Center, 2 Hoa Lu Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi, from November 24-28, 2012.

Through the fair, the organizers aimed to raise awareness of environmental protection for the benefit of the community and to encourage people to adopt a nutritious diet to protect their health. The 2012 Green Food Fair also served as a showcase and introduction to Vietnamese vegetarian culinary culture for visitors.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Nha, Head of the Organizing Committee: Reducing meat and fish consumption in the diet not only reduces the risk of obesity, diabetes, cancer, etc., but also helps reduce the use of grains and natural resources in livestock farming, thereby limiting the greenhouse effect as recommended by WHO and UNICEF…

The fair also provides an opportunity for businesses in the capital to network and promote their products. The 2012 Green Food Fair is organized in conjunction with many rich cultural and artistic programs. There will be many unique booths such as vegetarian food booths, nutritional food booths, functional food booths, and green food processing ingredient booths… Especially, with the participation of famous restaurants in the vegetarian food booth, visitors will feel like they are attending a large-scale vegetarian food festival.

During the fair, the organizing committee also held seminars on topics such as: “Vegetarianism and Health,” “Working Together to Protect the Environment,” and “The Power of Serenity”… 25 stalls with over 100 vegetarian dishes will be showcased at the 2012 Green Food Fair. These include famous vegetarian dishes such as vermicelli with fermented fish sauce, Hue-style vermicelli, su xê cakes, bánh bèo, xiu mại, há cảo, pizza, Italian pasta, bánh nậm, etc.

Bringing clean wild vegetables to this fair, Dr. Ngo Kieu Oanh, representative of Dong Que Ba Vi Farm, affirmed: “The vegetables, milk, and fresh cheese that we introduce at the fair are absolutely safe. They are made by the hands of farmers and ethnic minority people.”
