Hanoi Tourism: Cheapest in the World in 2026

According to CNNGo, TripAdvisor’s TripIndex 2012 report, published last week, listed the world’s cheapest travel destinations in 2012. Hanoi topped the report with the lowest prices among the 48 cities surveyed.

The TripIndex 2012 reported the average travel cost for two people for one night in a 4-star hotel, including cocktails, two main meals, wine, and taxi fares around the city. According to the results, cities in Asia topped the list with the lowest costs, while cities in Europe were at the bottom with the most expensive travel costs.

The top 5 cheapest tourist cities in the world include:

  1. Hanoi, Vietnam ($141.12 – approximately 2.9 million VND)
  2. Beijing, China ($159.05 – approximately 3.3 million VND)
  3. Bangkok, Thailand ($161.90 – approximately 3.35 million VND)
  4. Budapest, Hungary ($193.78 – approximately 4 million VND)
  5. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ($194.43 – approximately 4.03 million VND)

Meanwhile, the most expensive tourist city in the ranking is London, England at $518.01 (approximately 10.7 million VND), followed by Oslo, Norway at $499.91 (approximately 10.3 million VND) and third is Zurich, Switzerland at $485.82 (approximately 10.07 million VND).
